Increase Your Low Libido

Your libido is your sex drive, and it plays a huge role in your sexual health.  But before you can increase your libido, you need to know how it works.  Factors that can potentially increase or decrease your libido include:

  • Your weight: Being too far over- or under- weight can cause your hormonal levels to change, leaving you feeling less sexual. It’s a good idea to talk to your primary care physician to make sure you’re your weight is healthy.
  • Psychological factors: These include depression, fatigue, trauma, performance anxiety and body image concerns are also common causes of loss of libido.
  • Prescription drugs: Many people find that medications can also alter a person’s natural libido. If you’re taking any prescription medications, find out if they have sexual side effects.

If you’d like to increase a low libido, Boston Medical Group’s physicians will design a personalized treatment plan to help address your needs.  For over a decade, we’ve been helping men regain control of their sexual health.

Libido, also known as the sex drive, can increase or decrease depending on what you’ve got going on in your life. Are you taking medications that specify loss of sexual desire in the side effects? Are you losing weight rapidly?  Have you been diagnosed with or think you may be suffering from depression?  If you answered yes to any of the above questions, it may be time to talk to your doctor about available solutions for loss of libido or a libido decrease.

Your libido relies heavily on your ability to take care of your body.  Exercising daily, even for just a few minutes a day, can improve your self-image, relieve stress, energize the body and increase libido.

Psychological trauma, stress and depression can also affect your desire to be sexual with another person.  If you’re feeling stressed, anxious or depressed, many people have found that sexual therapy with your partner or alone can help jump start the libido.

In some cases, however, your libido can be affected by medications.  If a loss of sexual desire occurred after starting a medication, talk to your doctor about replacing the medication with one that will not affect your sex drive. If this is not an option, talk to a physician about alternative solutions.  Boston Medical Group physicians are knowledgeable in the field of male sexual health and have been helping men realize an increase in their libidos for over a decade.
