Though the ability for men to give birth may never be physiologically possible, technology for a male contraceptive by way of injection, equivalent to that of the female birth control pill, is under way. Scientists explain that by the balanced blending of the testosterone hormone and progestin, it may be possible to disconnect communication between the brain and the testes.
Profoundly, experimentation using the developing male birth control injection has been tested on men in the United States and in China. The Chinese men showed very successful results in pregnancy prevention using the male birth control injections, whereas American men did not fully react to the same effectiveness that men from China experienced. Sperm production in the Americans did prove to be significantly decreased, but not to the drastic levels that the Chinese men achieved. Scientists speculate that this may be due to genetic differences.
Development of male birth control is moving along, slowly. Scientists believe that it is far more difficult to create an effective male birth control method comparable to the female birth control because men produce close to one thousand sperm each second, as opposed to the single egg per month that women produce.
