Thousands of men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year in the U.S. and many of them are concerned with post-operation sexual abilities.
The New York Times features a “Patient Voices” article regularly and in June published a “Voices of Prostate Cancer” feature article.
The article offered insight from men who have been diagnosed, treated and dealing with major lifestyle changes.
Here are some of the things patients are saying:
- “I’ve had to change my diet; more fish, chicken and vegetables.”
- “The hardest part was the waiting because you’re not sure what’s going on in your body.”
- “It’s a complete turn-around from what I’m used to…you have to make adjustments.”
Although you should not rely solely on the wisdom of those who have overcome prostate cancer, hearing the experiences of others can often times provide a sense of comfort and support.
