The Prevalence of Erectile Dysfunction Rises with Age

The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) estimates that the prevalence of erectile dysfunction in U.S. men to be between 15-30 million affected. The prevalence of erectile dysfunction in younger men is much lower with about 5% of 40-year-old men and between 15 and 25 percent of 65-year-old men experiencing erectile dysfunction. Declining testosterone levels and higher rates of cardiovascular problems and diabetes account for part of the higher prevalence of erectile dysfunction in older men.
